General Description
This excursion takes you to explore some of the most fascinating and less-traveled corners of the Cappadocia region. From ancient Greek towns to Roman archaeological sites and valleys filled with rock-cut churches, you will experience a complete journey combining history, culture, and stunning landscapes.
Detailed Itinerary
The tour begins with pickup from your Cappadocia hotel between 9:00 and 9:30 AM. The first stop is Mustafapasa, an ancient Greek town also known as Sinasos, where you will discover its rich Orthodox history and its role in the Turkish War of Independence.
You will continue to Sobessos, a Roman settlement discovered in 2002, where you can admire the remains of baths, the agora, the basilica, and the bouleuterion. Afterwards, you will have one hour of free time for lunch at a local restaurant.
With renewed energy, you will enter the Soğanli Valley, famous for its numerous rock-cut churches of various architectural styles. You will take a short walk around the area to explore the interiors of these temples and their frescoes, true historical treasures.
The next visit is the Keslik Monastery, whose frescoes are only visible under torchlight, creating a unique atmosphere. Finally, you will arrive in Avanos, renowned for its pottery tradition, where you will have the opportunity to create your own piece of pottery in a workshop.
