Tour Description
If you arrive in Istanbul by cruise, you cannot miss this tour of the highlights of this fascinating city that bridges Europe and Asia. We will start at the port and delve into its rich history and culture.
Detailed Itinerary
The tour begins when your cruise docks at the port of Istanbul. We will head to the center to visit the Hippodrome of Constantinople, built in 324 by the Roman Emperor Septimius Severus. There, you will see the Obelisk of Thutmose II, the Serpent Column, and the German Fountain while learning about the city’s historical origins.
We will continue to the stunning Blue Mosque, famous for its 16th-century Iznik tiles in blue and gold tones that create a unique play of light. Then, we will stop at Hagia Sophia, where you will have free time to visit its interior and admire the most spectacular mosaic from the late Roman period, or explore the area on your own.
Afterward, we will regroup to visit the Grand Bazaar, located in the heart of the historic district. We will walk through its 58 streets with over 4000 shops, learning about the evolution of this covered market that is over 500 years old. Finally, we will return to the port after six hours of exploration.
