Departure from the hotel to the Roman Hippodrome where we will see: The Obelisk of Theodosius, the Serpentine Column, the German Fountain, the Column of Constantine.

PROGRAM
The Order of the Dervishes, called Mevlevi (those who follow the Mevlana-the guide, was founded by Mevlana Celaledddin Rumi in the city of Konya.) Mevlana’s originality comes from the fact that he thought he could access union with God through music and dance. In order to understand the meaning of the sacred dance of the dervishes, one must know the symbolic meaning of the attire, of the movements and all the gesticulation. Men and women dressed in a tunic that symbolizes the sepulcher, the head covered with a conical hat that represents the tumbal stone, slowly turn around imitating a constellation of stars. Dance gives access to the knowledge of God, this allows you to feel his presence and join him. The black mantle falls, the dancer escapes the terrestrial chains and heaviness or mortal gravity. The right hand rises to heaven to receive divine grace, the left hand is oriented towards the earth to communicate this grace to all humanity.
Once the dervishes show is over, we will walk along Istiklal Street where they will have free time to dine or have a coffee in the various restaurants, cafes or bars that you will find on the way to Taksim Square.

Our first stop is the Church of San Sergio and San Baco, converted into a mosque in Ottoman times and currently called Hagia Sofia. Next we will admire one of the most beautiful and spectacular Byzantine temples of the former Byzantine imperial capital, the Church of San Salvador de Chora (or Cora), which in the times of the Ottoman Empire became the Kariye Mosque. Its mosaics and frescoes are among the most important of Byzantine art in the city and in the world.
After this visit we will continue to the Church of Pammakaristos, also known as the Church of the Blessed Mother of God (Theotokos Pamakaristos), and which during the Ottoman Empire became the Mosque of the Conquest (in Turkish: Fethiye Camii). Under its main dome is a representation of Christ Pantocrator surrounded by Old Testament prophets. In the apse the Christ Hyperagathos (Merciful) is shown next to the Virgin Mary and Saint John the Baptist.
Later we will head towards our next stop: the headquarters of the Greek-Orthodox Patriarchate, which has all the opulence and beauty of an Orthodox church. Apart from its main condition as a church of the Patriarch of Constantinople, it houses sacred relics, including the patriarchal throne, believed to date from the fifth century, three rare mosaic icons, the Column of the Flagellation in which Jesus was bound and whipped, and the tombs of three saints, apart from their glass staircases, chandeliers and crystal chandeliers from Baccarat, French chimneys Limoges, which is already worth seeing.
Then we will visit the Galata Tower, built by the Genoese in 1348. The ancient site of Pera, on the European side facing the ancient city of Constantinople, was granted by the Byzantine Empire for its help in defeating a crusade. After a short quiet walk we will take the oldest working underground in the world, the “tunnel”, finished in 1873 and which is also the shortest ever built. It connects the areas of Karaköy and Beyoğlu, where we can admire the pedestrian street of Istiklal. This is the heart of Istanbul. Walking along this boulevard we can see nineteenth-century buildings and the best examples of Art-Nouveau, typical of any European city.
]]>We begin our tour in the Zeyrek Mosque, originally a church of the Byzantine period called Monastery-Church of the Pantocrator, built in the twelfth century. Next, we will have the opportunity to take some photos of the old Ottoman houses that populate the area.
Our next stop is the Gül Mosque (Rosa, in Turkish) that was originally a Byzantine church dedicated to Saint Theodosia. Then we will descend to the Golden Horn, to admire the old Bulgarian Church (Church of Sveti Stefan, Church of St. Stephen of the Bulgarians or Bulgarian iron church), built in the 19th century with iron plates.
We will continue to Balat, where the Jewish community lived for a long time. We will visit the Church of St. George that currently serves as the seat of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate and serves as the residence of the Patriarch of Constantinople. Some sacred relics are exhibited in this place that could be saved and protected from the plundering suffered by the city during the Fourth Crusade and the subsequent capture of Constantinople, in 1204, by the Christian troops. Beautiful ancient icons, sarcophagi and the column of flagellation to which Jesus was allegedly bound and lashed can be observed in this Patriarchate.
Our next stop will be the famous Café de Pierre Loti, where we can enjoy a traditional Turkish coffee or an apple tea, admiring the incredible views over the Golden Horn. On the way back, we will travel along the city walls. city and we will enter what was the old Constantinople, through what is now known as Yedikule, the site where the old Puerta Aurea of the triple system of walls (Porta Aura) was located.
